Job Description

Renewable Energy Assurance Limited (REAL) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to manage the RECC monitoring, compliance and disciplinary processes under the direction of the Head of Compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and driven individual who has the experience to manage these important processes. It would suit someone with a flair for compliance, looking for a role in consumer protection within the renewable energy sector.

This is a senior role that will involve close co-operation with the dispute resolution and membership teams, with external auditors and independent Panel members and with RECC Members and other stakeholders as required. This is a full-time role, based in Central London. The salary will depend on experience but will be around £30k per annum. In addition, company benefits include 25 days annual leave, company pension scheme, and access to the cycle to work and annual travel card schemes.

Key individual tasks to be carried out by the post holder will include:

  1. Gather and analyse intelligence of members’ risk profiles and compliance status from a range of internal and external sources.
  2. Arrange and attend regular meetings to report on this analysis and, where there is evidence of non-compliance, advise on appropriate level of action.
  3. Draft communications to RECC Members suspected of non-compliance in line with the Bye-Laws and Rules.
  4. With the Head of Compliance, identify requirement for Consent Orders and for reference to the Applications and Non-Compliance Panels.
  5. Make arrangements for setting up Panel Meetings and Hearings including contacting Panel members, hiring rooms, organising recording and ordering refreshments.
  6. Represent RECC at external meetings as appropriate.  

Essential requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
  • At least three years’ experience in compliance-related work
  • Knowledge of consumer protection legislation
  • Experience with public speaking and presenting at meetings
  • Competence with SQL database applications as well as Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point
  • Evidence of excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Willingness to take the initiative and personal responsibility for getting things done
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.

Desirable attributes:

  • Understanding of renewable energy policy including Government incentives.
  • Interest in environment and in CO2 mitigation.
  • Legal, economic or technical knowledge relating to energy generating equipment.
